PREPARING THE STUDENTS FOR THE “T” JOBS
Today I had the pleasure of attending a wonderful training session at NJIT on Forensics and Digital Forensics. I had the opportunity to network with different schools who have STEM programs with multiple pathways in their schools. Upon reflecting there are two questions that emerged out of the discussions.
- How can we develop teacher capacity to teach STEM courses?
There is lack of personnel and professional development in the schools that can teach STEM courses.
There is a need to design STEM teacher education program at the college level.
- How can we help our students ready for the technology jobs while they are in schools?
There are talks about Big Data, AI and Robots in the current “T” jobs. However, there is lot that we need to offer at the school level in order to prepare the students for these jobs.
